more mascots: back in the day at the coast guard

Of course dogs and cats know the meaning of fear, but as long as their humans are there, what's to fear? During WWII a number of brave beasts perked up the spirits of several Coast Guard vessels, and I've found a treasure trove of their stories and photos. How about "Knobby," the dog who barked his way through D-Day wearing his own special life preserver? Or cat "Tarawa," who found life at sea positively relaxing by the look of it? Or stripey cat "Camouflage," whose idea of fun was to chase Japanese tracer bullets across the deck?

Would you like to see all these furry heroes and more? You can, here.

Excellent post! Very interesting to us to read about them. (The cats more so than the d*gs, but we suppose that's understandable)
