Erin Rea's "About" page on her website starts by confessing she once got in trouble as a kid for whittling a dog out of soap.  (It wasn't the dog that did it:  Her mother wasn't home, she was little, and she was using a knife.)  You can see that same irrepressible spirit here in "Cheby," one of the custom pet portraits she has made her specialty.  Though she trained and did her turn at corporate creative work, she knew it wasn't for her.  "I just wanted to make art that actually made people happy," she concluded.  So she did.  Check out her portraits and other pet-themed work at her Etsy shop.  Done in a clean, bold, sharp-edged modern style, the portraits take an expression or pose and distill the pet's personality to the purest, like the happy blue-eyed innocence of Cheby here.  Enjoy!
