the other staff at the hermitage
Yesterday Museum friend Loren sent me this link to a fantasy illustration: "The Hermitage Court Chamber Herald Cat," by a deviantArt artist called EldarZakirov. Done for The Hermitage magazine, it's accompanied by such other portraits as the "Court Outrunner Cat," the "Confectioner Apprentice Cat," and the "Court Waiter Cat." They are well done and beguiling - and they led me to this piece from last year's New Yorker blog about the four footed staff at this great Russian museum. And the last line is the best.

Yes, the last paragraph says it all. If only we had pets in our offices we might learn to be kinder to each other.
