the cat wants in

What, kitty?  Just come on in, already, no, I'm not going to get up, you see the window is open for you.
This masterful charcoal and chalk scene by the French Realist Jean-Francois Millet (French, 1814 - 1875) is entitled Le chat and also known as The Cat in the Window.  Drawn around 1857-8, it just goes to show that as long as there have been windows, cats have wanted in them. And out of them, and in them again (and there is Veronica knocking on mine now).
