Caninus, the metal band, is no more. They disbanded in early 2011 when Basil, one of their two lead singers, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and euthanized. Euthanized? Yes. Basil was a pit bull. So is Budgie, the remaining vocalist, but the human players in the band didn't want to continue without Basil's "voice." Here's the simple tribute on the band website and a longer one over at Metalsucks.net (fittingly for the sad news, it's in the "This Sucks" category).
What does a pit bull sound like on lead throat? Like this ("Bite the Hand That Breeds You," from their album).
What did the band do to elicit such a performance? Probably wave around a Kong toy. Budgie and Basil were dog death row rescues, and the human lineup is vegan and intent on "letting the animals have their say." Didn't see that coming, huh?
