poem: treasure

Treasure

Within these walls lie all my riches dear,
Though you may think that very little's here.

I don't think you can see the diamond shine
Of one brown kitten's fur, so soft, so fine.

I don't think you admire the ocean sheen
Of one white cat's eyes pure aquamarine.

I doubt that you would call in from the haze
A shy black cat with gentle maiden's ways.

Though you may think that very little's here,
Within these walls lie all my riches dear.
