happy international box day

Apparently it is International Box Day.

I thought that was every day? What do I know.

Anyhow, here is a classic from the Elizabeth archives.
Happy Thursday!

  3. Does Elizabeth miss out on Boxing Day by living in the US? Here in Australia we have Boxing Day, a public holiday, on 26th December.

Hmm...maybe I should provide Penny with a new box each year on that date. (She sleeps in the paper-recycling box on occasion.)

  4. Hi Parlance (and all) -- No, we do NOT have Boxing Day here in the US, and I think Elizabeth would like to celebrate it! What is Boxing Day anyway?

  5. It's a public holiday and no-one has to work. What's more to know?

I think it's because on the day after Christmas the richer people used to give gifts to the servants or the needy - in boxes.

How's that? We have a holiday and no-one knows why. I looked around the internet and my explanation is as good as any other theories, lol.

  7. Hi Fin,
Well she SHOULD have, 'cause it was her idea! But that's Elizabeth.
