Portrait of Odilia van Wassenaar, c. 1655-1660, by Abraham van den Tempel. If I have found the
right reference, Odilia's life dates were circa 1635-1672, so she's in her early twenties here. She's so full of personality that I wonder if she had a hard time sitting still. Her little dog clearly couldn't!
Isn't it amazing how a woman who lived so long ago stares out of this portrait and meets our eyes? She lives on in the moments when we are looking at this painting.
