i wish my veranda was sunny

From Swedish painter Carl Larsson's 1889 Ett Hem (A Home) series, here is a sundrenched Veranda complete and perfected with a warm, relaxed dog.  You see the dog house tucked over to the left there?
The Ett Hem series captures many different moments in the life of his family and their loved country house, Lilla Hyttnas ("the little smelting place").  Larsson's wife Karin, herself an artist, was the prime force behind the design and rhythms of this home, the furnishings and decor of which were groundbreaking in their day for meshing new approaches with folk art traditions.  So if you find yourself looking at Larsson's domestic scenes and feeling happy and serene, then Carl and Karin Larsson's partnership in art and life have worked yet again.  You can visit this house, by the way - the family still runs it.

That picture really needs a cat somewhere. :-)

Still a nice place to doze, though.
