Thanks to friend and fan Monica C., artist Kelly Lyles and I finally connected for real! You may recall this earlier post on Kelly, done after I'd enjoyed her booth at the Fremont Solstice Fair.
Now that I've had opportunity to chat with her I can treat you all to one of her pet pieces. This is "Cat-Olic," acrylic on canvas board with a 3D found object frame. Tell me, first, is this not a perfect take on the classic local parish window? And secondly, how about those sinuous stripes, and that radiant kitty-chest-cowlick right around the breastbone? (And by the way, if you know what that cowlick is actually called, I'd like to know.)
As you'll see from her website, Kelly's an artist through and through in every part of her life. She does very fine and jolly human portraits, but I must send you back to her Rodents and Pet Portraits pages. There you'll see wit and perception, all in the vivid color that pets bring to our lives. Enjoy!

Maximus Spittimus requests that I inform you that this is a very special picture.
He now wants to be immortalised at our local church and it is your fault...;-)
