We've seen the great Swedish wildlife painter Bruno Liljefors before here at the Museum. This is his
Katt pa fageljakt (Cat goes birdhunting), 1883. A calm, realistic look at a cat's native impulse, this piece is also lyrical, even sympathetic. Out of the tangled dry vegetation the cat steps bright-eyed and full of assurance, his prize secure in his jaws, sleek and victorious. It's what cats do.
I know that look!
