What a gentle, elegant work.  This is Portrait of a Lady with Cat and Ivy by Mexican academic painter Juan Cordero (1824-1884).  Cordero trained in Rome, and upon returning to Mexico established a career of portraits like this: classically executed and posed, but unmistakably of his world.
