Artist Susan M begins her Etsy "About Me" statement with this: "I am a girl who likes to make things. I live in NYC, (Soho), summer in New England, collect antique toys, love all kinds of art, and have a penchant for sugary glory, (also known as candy, desserts, etc.! )"  I hadn't read that when I seized on her "Octpuplet No. 8" above, but it made perfect sense.  This work is a color pencil/watercolor work that's been scanned and digitally painted, a perfect mesh of the traditional and the new just like an NYC/New England year.  I lived in New England for a few years, so I know what that feels like.  Throw in the delicious color, as rich as candy lime paint on a classic car, and the quirkily vintage look of the toy dog, and it's a perfect alchemy.  (Look at her Beach Ball Kitty.  Love it.)  You can find Susan M's Etsy store here, including her photography.
