Here's Ulisse Aldrovandi (one of his illustrators, probably) again with another beautiful 16th c illustration of a dog type. This time it's the Canis Hispanicus, auribus demissis ("Spanish dog, ears drooping").  You would know it today as a springer spaniel, I think.
