vintage photo time!

another of my Ampersand finds

In reality this photo is about half this size, a jewel of an image, and I'm guessing from the Forties. I find it interesting that neither woman is looking fully into the camera; both are hiding behind the dogs, and the dogs aren't all that keen about being immortalized, either. That pup on the left has the funniest avoidance policy, much like Elizabeth's: "I'm not going to look at you and I'm going to stick my legs straight out so you can feel guilty I can't relax. Mmf." Why aren't they all more comfortable, I wonder?
