(Later) Look! I found this beautiful Sir Joshua Reynolds work: "A Young Girl and her Dog," from 1780. I see from the Wikipedia page that Reynolds was a proponent of the Grand Style, which sought idealization of the imperfect. Well, don't we all. (How's that for a slick snapshot of an entire Royal Academy's reason for being?)
In any case, I can never call a dog's love imperfect. So once more let me say Happy Valentine's Day to you and to all creatures, feathered, finned, furred and smooth-skinned, in your house.

I know what you mean.
These big occasions can mean a lot of pressure when we want to find something JUST right.
Love and licks, Winnie
